Opportunities for Home School Families

Monticello Christian Academy Extension Program 2007 - 2008

Monticello Christian Academy admires and respects your decision to Home School your children. The Bible tells us "commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed," Proverbs 16:3. Praise God, for your courage and willingness to accept the responsibility for your child's education. We realize that even certified teachers have certain subjects that they don't feel as strong in as others. May we help?

M.C.A. is blessed to have Enrichment Programs such as, Spanish, art, music, and computer technology. Also included in our program are Honors English and Greek for 7th and 8th grade students. We would like to extend an invitation to you to enroll your child/children on a per class/per semester basis. You may choose the classes from which your child would benefit and commit to that time and expense only. Our rates are based on a full semester course. There is limited enrollment and spaces will be filled on a first come first serve basis. There will be the option of a waiting list after the classes are filled.

Music- Taught by experienced teacher, Mrs. Helen Lee, your child will learn the fundamentals of music theory and history, combined with the enjoyment of worshipping the Lord through the sounds of music! They will benefit from the experience of performance to an audience, as she schedules several musical recitals and performances throughout the year. Mrs. Lee also provides private piano lessons, at an additional cost, for those who are interested.

Spanish- ¡Hola! Mrs. Jean Ann Foltz is as fluent in her smiles as she is in her second language of Spanish! Your child will learn age appropriate Spanish vocabulary, music, literature, and grammar, in a hands-on setting. The children learn that honoring God in all languages can be a true Fiesta!

Technology- Mrs. Jen Devries serves MCA by teaching our children the necessary skills today's computer-based environment requires. Her computer courses emphasize writing & communications skills, working with images & graphics, learning how computers work, creating professional-looking presentations, and web skills. Students in 4th - 7th grades will become proficient in using a server for storing & retrieving files, MS Word, MS Power Point, Internet searches, and in presenting their work over a computer projection system. Students in all grades will hone their keyboarding and Internet research skills with age-appropriate assignments. Students in 8th grade concentrate on web development & graphics applications.

Art- Sculpting, painting, carving, and the wonders of color are what your child will experience in Mrs. Rhonda Anderson's art class! Her talent for combining the many textured media that God has provided on our earth, will stimulate your child's imagination! There is beauty in all of God's creation and your child will enjoy working side by side with Mrs. Anderson in learning the joys of creating.

Honors English- Professor Deborah McConville will teach your 7th and 8th grade students the “must knows” of upper level English. The class focuses on analyzing and evaluating literature and responding to it through writing and speaking. Her goal for the course is to help your child become confident and effective communicators.

Greek- Pastor Jim Dalrymple will share one of his many talents by teaching your child Greek as it is applied Biblically. Your student will be better equipped with biblical understanding of translations and roots of words. This class is for 7th and 8th grade students.

We look forward to partnering with you in educating your children from a Biblical perspective.
